Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, Rescript Dispensing a Deacon from the Obligation of Holy Orders, 1996.

Most Holy Father:

NN, deacon of the diocese of , humbly requests the dispensation of obligations assumed with the sacred order of diaconate for the reasons presented in his letter to Your Holiness.

On the day of , the Congregation of Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments, in virtue of special faculties granted by His Holiness John Paul II, and having considered the particular circumstances of this case and the recommendation of the Ordinary of , bestows upon the latter the faculty to use at his discretion and removing by opportune means all danger of scandal to dispense with Apostolic Authority the petitioner from the obligations of the diaconate.

In a paternal manner he should exhort the petitioner to receive often the sacrament of penance and the Eucharist, and that he should be an outstanding example to others by his upright life and works of Christian piety.

Insofar as possible, the prescriptions of canon 1350 of the Code of Canon Law are to be observed.

All things to the contrary notwithstanding.
