Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, Response Concerning an Extension of Absence from a House of the Institute, 1998. Private.

A religious in a clerical institute of pontifical right petitioned his superior general for an extension of his permission to live apart from a house of the institute. Since the member had been absent for one year, and the reason for the request was for none of the three reasons indicated in canon 665, ยง1, the superior general recommended the petition of the member to the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life (CICLSAL). The following reply was sent to the superior general in Latin:

Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life

Prot. n. ____________

Most Holy Father,

____________ of the Congregation of ____________, Diocese of ____________, implores your Holiness for an extension of the time residing apart from a house of the proper religious institute for the same continuing causes for which it was given by the superior general.

The Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, having been attentive to the petition, benignly grants an indult of the extension of time absent from a religious house ad annum, at the same time, and appropriate dispensation is given the above from the rules incompatible with a religious absent from the house, with due regard for certain cautions lest anything inappropriate occur.

Anything contrary to the above does not stand.

Given in Rome, ____________ date.
