Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, Imposed exclaustration, 2011, Private.
Canon 686 §3 provides that at the petition of the supreme moderator with the consent of the council, exclaustration can be imposed on a member of a religious institute of pontifical right by the Holy See or by the diocesan bishop on a member of an institute of diocesan right for a grave cause with equity and charity observed.
The following rescript was received by a superior general who with the consent of the council petitioned for imposed exclaustration on a member. It should be noted that prior to this, this form of exclaustration was given indefinitely. Now it seems to be given for a stated period of time. The letter to the superior general accompanying the rescript requested that the care of the member be carefully monitored.
