Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, Rescript for a Priest Seeking Formal Departure from Religious Institute Accepted Pure et Simpliciter by the Diocesan Bishop, 2000. Private.
A priest in perpetual profession in a clerical religious institute petitioned for an indult of departure and to be incardinated into a diocese. The diocesan bishop, having known the priest was willing to receive him pure et simpliciter. The following is the rescript from the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life.
MOST HOLY FATHER,
The priest, __________, from __________, implores Your Holiness for an indult to depart the institute for the reasons he presented. The ordinary __________ intends to receive him in his proper diocese pure et simpliciter in accord with the norms of the Code of Canon Law.
***The Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, having heard the opinion of the Procurator General of the
Institute and attentive to the letter of acceptance of the Ordinary ________, grants an indult according to the petition, so that the petitioner, agreeable to the sufficient sustenance provided by the judgement of the Ordinary, puts aside the external form of the religious habit, and is absolved from his vows in the institute he leaves. He remains incardinated in the diocese of __________, according to the norms of cann. 265, 267, 269 and 693.
A decree, however, executing this Rescript, is to be communicated to this Dicastery and also the Supreme Moderator of the Institute.
Anything contrary does not stand.

Enclosed please find the original document of the Congregation approving your incardination into the Diocese of _________. For your convenience, I enclose a translation of the rescript. I will send a copy to Bishop __________ and notify _____________, our Superior General, that such was communicated. With these notices the process is complete.
